RIP Billy Preston

Posted on Tue, Jun 6, 2006 at 1:50 PM

The wires are reporting the death of keyboard great Billy Preston, who was 59. He had been in a coma since November.

Preston had such hits in the 1970s as "Outta Space" and "Nothing From Nothing." As a session player, he worked with the Beatles and many other greats in rock. John Lennon reportedly referred to Billy Preston as "the fifth Beatle," he did so much studio work with them.
