Gettin' Out Saturday...and Lenny Williams on Sunday!

Posted on Sat, Jun 10, 2006 at 9:30 AM

I'm typing this as day no. 2 of the 48 Hour Film project scurry, finishing up scripts, scouting locations, getting costumes together. To ours, send word! For the rest of you, here's what's going on tonight: Blues, funk R&B, soul: Billy Jones Show and Revue at the Afterthought. 8 p.m. $7.

The "Words Not Bullets" poetry slam at the Riverdale 10 theater, starting at 7 p.m. $10 for poets, $6 for audience members. Get there early, poets, to sign up. Ages 18 and up.

After the slam, Memphis-based Free Sol would be a good way to cap off the evening at Cornerstone Pub in North Little Rock. 10 p.m. $5.

Hip-hop local gone proud and national Conduit Family will be at the Stifft Station  center of adult activity, Pizza D's tonight 8 p.m. $3.

Rooooooooock: Tin Fire Radio and the Easys tonight at White Water Tavern. 10 p.m. $5.

For old-time blues freaks like me: Jag wil be at the Starving Artist Cafe, performing a la Son House or McDowell on those cool guit-box (cigar and guitar hybrid instruments). 6:30-8 p.m. Free. He'll also be selling the things. Check them out, they are amazing-looking. Free.

Hang out with the college crowd tonight at Sticky Fingerz: Tragikly White is on. 9:30 p.m. $5.

AND:

On Sunday: Oooweee: Bada-bing has old school soul on Sunday with Lenny Williams. Soul Patrol, be on the lookout: Do we need to say "Tower of Power" Yeah, you know. "So Very Hard to Go," "Don't Change Horses in the Middle of the Stream," "'Cause I Love you." Mmm,mmm, mmm. 4 Real, the local soul band with William Staggers and comedian L'il Jesse will open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20 at the door. Call 897-2112 for more info.
