More to do Friday: David Sanborn

Posted on Fri, Jun 23, 2006 at 3:33 PM

David Sanborn is one of the best pop-jazz saxophonists in the business, and he's in Little Rock tonight to headline the Little Rock Jazz Festival, a show that also will promote some of the leading local and regional jazz performers, such as Dave Rogers. The festival kicks off at 5 p.m. at Riverfest Amphitheatre, Sanborn will take the stage later in the evening. There will also be specialty food vendors, a wine tasting, beer, and plenty of water too.

Don't know why these jazz shows always seem to bring the heat (literally) with them; we recall the last Jazz Lights in the Park a couple of years back when it was about 100 degrees. Scheduling it in June normally wouldn't seem too bad, but these days todays June is yesterday's August around here.

Anyway, $25 gets you a lawn seat (bring a blanket), and $30 gets you a reserved section spot. Tickets are available at the gate. Proceeds benefit several charities.
