To do Thursday: Louis Jordan night

Posted on Thu, Jul 6, 2006 at 1:21 PM

Louis Jordan's birthday would have been Saturday (he'd have been 98 years old), but the R&B pioneer from Brinkley is going to be celebrated tonight at the Cornerstone Pub in North Little Rock (at 314 Main St., down from the trolley stop, easy to get to). The show, put together for the 10th year in a row by music aficionado Stephen Koch, will include music by The Munks, Bug Tussle Boys and other local groups, plus discussion led by writer Bill Jones and others. In short, it's a good time, and the cost is just a $6 donation that goes to fund a memorial at Brinkley for Jordan, a true Arkansas treasure who influenced the likes of James Brown, Little Richard and B.B. King.
