"Aquaman's" box-office record is short-lived

Posted on Mon, Jul 10, 2006 at 10:50 AM

"Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" did an incredible (estimated) $132 million weekend box office, beating the fictional ("Entourage") "Aquaman" mark of $116 million set a couple of weeks ago on the HBO series, and in reality carved up the previous mark set by "Spiderman" at $114 million. Read the weekend wrapup from Box Office Mojo here.

And it's all because of Keira Knightley. Way to go, Keira. Have a piece of celebratory cake on us.

Meanwhile, "Superman Returns" took a second-week tumble after a huge (and lengthy) seven-day opening of $119 million.

  • Cats and dogs

I've always been leery of people who dislike animals. To my wife and me, a house without dog hair in the corners and a cat perched on the windowsill is as barren as a highway rest stop. We're down to three dogs and two cats, the smallest menagerie we've had for years.
