More Wednesday to do list: Sister Hazel, Movies in the Park

Posted on Wed, Jul 12, 2006 at 3:22 PM

If you haven't had a chance to check out the new Rev Room (Club Revolution, next door to the Rumba restaurant at 300 President Clinton Ave.), tonight offers a great opportunity with the Florida-based rock-pop band Sister Hazel. Sister is kinda lumped in that Hootie and the Blowfish genre and had its most successful radio run about the same time, but the group's overall music is much better than the songs its record company put out as "hits." We like 'em. Showtime is 9 p.m.

Also in the River Market district, there's the free Movies in the Park series tonight, with one of our favorite films, "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade," with Harrison Ford and Sean Connery, the latter of course doing yet another of his mentor/friend/dad (in this case) films of late 1980s/early 90s. When you outgrow Bond, you become somebody's mentor, tutoring Eliot Ness on the ways of Chicaw-go, or being dad to Indiana Jones (or getting arse kicked by Cathering Zeta Jones, or defecting Russia for Alec Baldwin and a fishing cottage up the Hudson). Anyway, the park opens at 6 p.m., the movie starts at dark. Ice cream, popcorn and drinks are for sale, but you can bring your own everything if you want, with no hassles.

Also, good news if you're a "Grease" fan. Blake Rutherford, the MITP organizer, says that due to "overwhelming public interest," last week's rainout will be rescheduled afterall. "Grease" will be shown Aug. 30.

Next Wednesday is "Napoleon Dynamite."
