The Mind of Matt: More from Colorado

Posted on Wed, Aug 16, 2006 at 3:39 PM

Matt Smith had a big Monday in Colorado to report on Little Rocking:

Colorado Springs

This place has incredible natural beauty. Garden of the Gods and Pikes Peak are astounding.  You have different options for seeing these wonders in the mountains.  We decided to take a hot air balloon tour and to also rent a jeep.  The views are incredible and driving the jeep along old mining roads is somewhat of a thrill.  Another unique site is Seven Falls.

Canon City

Great place to go Whitewater Rafting. This is the real deal on the Arkansas River. Category V rapids! We are not talking about the Buffalo River back home in Arkansas. This is hustle up and get going-we are not playing. I went down the river on the rafts then took a scenic train ride, meal included, back through the canyon. Great way to eat and relax after
shooting the rapids.  www.royalgorgereservations.com

Royal Gorge

After the river and the train ride we headed to the top of the Royal Gorge. I wanted to see the world’s highest suspension bridge. I hit the bungee swing. I would love to bungee jump off this bridge. It is breath taking!
The Royal Rush! This bridge is 1,053 feet up on top of the gorge. Sweet!
The aerial tram is a good way to take photos/video. The flags of all 50 states are posted on the bridge railing. I have included a photo of the Arkansas Flag.  www.royalgorgebridge.com  for the specs on that baby!
