Nolan Richardson's latest moves covered in SI

Posted on Tue, Aug 22, 2006 at 5:34 AM

Sports Illustrated college basketball columnist Seth Davis visits with former Arkansas basketball Nolan Richardson on the latest goings on with the coach, including his recent "interview" with UTEP about its basketball opening, and whether he'll ever coach again. He's approaching "Medicare" age, the ol' coach notes in the column.

"I've always said that if I was going to take another job, it should be equal to the job I lost," Richardson told me. "So to me, I'd have to think of that as a major college job where I'd have an opportunity to get to the mountaintop again, not a mid-major. I don't want to coach just to coach, and I said that to [UTEP athletic director] Bob Stull."
