To do Friday: Musicians Showcase final

Posted on Fri, Mar 2, 2007 at 1:53 PM

Five local, original music bands. More than 500 people with room to move around in the room for the first time in finals history. It's the last night of the Arkansas Times Musicians Showcase, co-sponsored by KKPT-FM, 94.1 The Point, and Sticky Fingerz, as well as Sticky's sister club Rumba/Revolution.

And while there are plenty of good happenings going on, including Sevendust at the Metroplex, we urge you to support local music and hear five bands you probably wouldn't get the hear on the same stage on the same night at any other time.

Tonight's final features: Highway 5, a young country band from Sherwood; Cooper's Orbit, an acoustic-driven modern rock band from Little Rock and led by last year's runner-up as a solo artist, Chris Henry; Damn Bullets, a rockabilly meets pop band from Little Rock; Jeff Coleman and the Feeders, a rock-and-roll band from Little Rock; and the Dean Agus Band, an acoustic-driven modern rock act from Hot Springs.

Showtime is 8:30 p.m. Admission is $6. Door prizes will be given away, possibly including tickets to an upcoming Alltel Arena show.

The winner will be announced at Sticky Fingerz on Tuesday, March 6, in a show starting at 7 p.m.
