Arkansania: Cowboy Jack Clement in Newport

Posted By on Thu, Jun 7, 2007 at 11:03 AM

"Shakespeare Was a Big George Jones Fan" hasn't reached the top of my queue yet, so I don't know if this is a clip from that or not. The set-up: legendary Sun Studios producer and singer/songwriter Jack Clement goes back to Newport, where he spent summers as a child with his grandparents, to remiss for someone named Earl. At the end of the clip, after explaining its roots, he sings the "Air Conditioner Song."

I could watch this on a loop for hours. Such soothing ramblings.

"The only sound I hear at night is the sound of my purring air conditioner/the air is pure and humidified, thermostatically controlled/now I have no desire to perspire/and that's how progress goes."
