"Shotgun Stories" nominated for Independent Spirit Award

Jeff Nichols' debut film "Shotgun Stories," was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award today. The drama, which was filmed in Pulaski and Lonoke counties, landed in the John Cassavetes category, which awards directors, producers and writers of feature films made for under $500,000.

The nomination follows wins at film festivals in Austin, Texas, Newport, Rhode Island, and Seattle.

In case you haven't gotten the memo, the Arkansas Times is hosting the Little Rock premiere of "Shotgun Stories" on Friday, Dec. 14. The screening is at 7 p.m. at Market Street with an after-party to follow at Sticky Fingerz with performances by Ben Nichols of Lucero and Smoke Up Johnny. Tickets, which are limited, are only $20.
