Notion

Formed:
February 2006

From: Little Rock

Members:
Sean Lyndsey (drums, vocals), Noel Moniot (guitar, vocals), Brian Wolverton (bass, vocals), Shon Hartman (guitar, lead vocals).

Album: A debut self-titled disc that our reviewer Colter McCorkindale couldn't get enough of:

"Hartman and his group have tapped into a sound and a groove that is utterly unique in its apparent indifference to rock 'n' roll trends. On stage, they manage to be neither swaggering prima donnas nor meticulously unkempt indie rockers. Several local bands get more press with charismatic yet tuneless lead vocalists, so it should only be a matter of time before Notion moves to the top of the Little Rock heap."

Sounds like: Rock, with dozens of stylistic flourishes — electronic blips, country dirges, even a hip-hop interlude.

Radio, Radio: Hartman and the band host a weekly radio show on KABF every Monday, from midnight to 2 a.m. You can listen to the archives here.

Where you'll find them: Touring regionally. At the end of the month, the band will play Fayetteville and Springfield, Mo. Then in May, they head to the New Daisy in Memphis.
