The Weekend: Venus Mission, Michael Burks, Eclipse Glasses and more

FRIDAY 12/12

The hugely popular '80s cover band Venus Mission is sure to pack 'em in at Sticky Fingerz, 10 p.m., $7.

At Vino's, the American Princes' side project Magic Hassle shares a bill with local pop collective Bear Colony and dreamy pop experimentalists Captain and Company, from Clinton, Miss., 9 p.m., $6.

They must've liked Juanita's: After coming through with Nada Surf a few weeks back, Cali's Delta Spirit brings its soul-inflected Americana back to the venue with a show that also features the Breakthrough and local pop-rock favorites Big Boots, 9 p.m., $7.

Multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Tonya Leeks leads a band at the Afterthought, 9 p.m., $7.

The Ted Ludwig Jazz Trio returns to the Capital Bar, 8 p.m., free, where they'll be Saturday, too.

"History Boys" continues at the Weekend Theater, 7:30, $10-$14. On Saturday, too.

Ditto for "It's a Wonderful Life: A Radio Play," 7:30 p.m., $20-$35, which continues through the weekend.

 SATURDAY 12/13

From noon to 3 p.m., White Water hosts “Breakfast, Books and Booze,” brunch and an independent book sale from Mary Chamberlain and her Tree of Knowledge non-profit, free.

Later, it's blues power at Sticky Fingerz with Camden native Michael Burks, who's one of the most respected guitarists in blues today, 9 p.m., $10. 

At Downtown music, much beloved local instrumental act Eclipse Glasses works up a groove, 9 p.m., $5.

Revolution hosts uber-popular local cover act the Gettys, 9:30 p.m., $5.

Tribute artist Tony Witt offers “An Evening with Elvis” at Robinson, 7 p.m., $12-$27.
