Chris Denny's big break?

Chris Denny has been Arkansas' Next Big Thing for about five years. In that span, he's met with Rick Rubin, played record label showcases in New York, enjoyed financial backing an out of state patron, toured all across the country and recorded an album for a promising Brooklyn-based indie. All that's added up to a whole lot of not much, until, possibly, now. Come August, Denny and his backing band (Josh Spillyards (drums), Judson Spillyards (guitar) and Ryan Hitt (bass)) head to Westville, NY to record their debut for Partisan Records, which might end up a double LP. Like 2:59 Records, the label that released Denny's "Age Old Hunger," Partisan is small and Brooklyn-based. But unlike 2:59, Partisan has a big name (at least in the indie world) in its stable — Deer Tick. Maybe Denny and co. can latch onto some of that buzz. There's a spate of shows in and around NYC planned for after recording. Stay tuned.
