If your goal is to mix and mingle and party hop, the Peabody is probably the ticket. The hotel always throws the biggest New Year’s Eve bash of the year, both in terms of the number of folks who show up and the number of acts that perform. This year, Mobile, Ala., genre-benders Ugli Stick perform in the Arkansas Ballroom, while local cover acts Crisis and Tragikly White play the Grand Ballroom. In the lobby, DJs Tre’ Day and Ugly Ed offer dueling sets. All that costs $40 in advance, or $50 the day of. Tickets are available in the Peabody Gift Shop, and there are special room packages, too. The party starts at 8 p.m.
