Congrats to the 2010 Arkansas Times Musicians Showcase semi-finalists

Posted By on Mon, Jan 18, 2010 at 11:20 AM

In the three years I've been managing the Showcase, we've never had more submissions than we did this year. And not just from a bunch of bedroom songsmiths who probably shouldn't venture out, but genuinely talented musicians. In fact, we had too many worthy submissions. Some quality acts didn't make it into the field of 16.

To those who didn't, thanks for entering and keep hitting us up with show dates and band information at calendar @ arktimes.com.

To those who did in the list below, look for a call or email from me directly about your show date. Or if you're the proactive type, hit me up at lindsey @ arktimes.com for details.

The Showcase kicks off on January 28 at Sticky Fingerz. Look for many, many more posts about it in the coming days.

Our semi-finalists:

3 Penny Acre
Big Boots
Bobby
Bonnie Montgomery
Brother Andy and His Big Damn Mouth
Cody Belew
The Dangerous Idiots
Elise Davis
Flash LaRue
Iron Tongue
Matt Stell and the Crashers
Outstanding Red Team
Ryan Couron
Stella Fancy
Sweet Eagle
Underclaire

  • Come with the Arkansas Times to the Johnny Cash Heritage Festival

After several years of Arkansas State University in Jonesboro hosting benefit concerts to raise money for the restoration of Johnny Cash's boyhood home, this year the Johnny Cash Heritage Festival debuts in Dyess just outside the Cash homeplace. And of course the Arkansas Times is chartering a bus to be there. The lineup is spectacular: Kris Kristofferson (one of the greatest songwriters of all-time easily), Rosanne Cash, Joanne Cash and Tommy Cash and Buddy Jewel.
