More restaurant news from here and there - including a new Chinese buffet and the long-awaited opening of a pub in Jonesboro.

Reader Sonny Scott passed along the information about the new Fu Xing Chinese Buffet. I had a drive-by but not a taste — I have to admit, the sign about ran me off the road… I honestly thought it said something else. Sonny says it’s not quite as good as the last buffet that occupied that location.

Cregeen’s Irish Pub in Jonesboro opened this weekend. The sister pub to the Argenta mainstay offers much of the same fare and wash. Having lived in dry, dry, dry Craighead County during my early TV years I know just how welcome the new pub is. I’ve heard nothing but good about the place — but I am for sure going to have to go up there and give it a shot.

The Box is about to close down for its move to its new location at 7th and Ringo. The new place will open in August. The last day for burgers and such at the current location is the 18th.

I happened to be with a group that visited Panda Garden last night… and while the hot food options were still widely varied (sea bass, salmon and several things “on a stick” were prominent), I was disappointed in the sushi bar… what was out was of decent quality, but for some reason (perhaps a low Sunday turnout) there wasn’t that much to choose from.

Please feel free to send them to me at And remember, you can always post your own reviews of restaurants around the state in our new full featured restaurant review section. Don’t see a listing for a place you want to talk about? Drop me a line.
