Fresh from catching kiss from Pitchfork for their recent release of Dragoon's debut LP, Max Recordings released a four-track EP from Chicago three-piece Avenue Boulevard.

"Chicago?" you say? "Chicago's not Little Rock," you say?

Yeah, but Avenue Boulevard is one-third Steve Schmidt, native Arkansan and member of the late, great Chino Horde. And this album is pretty solid sonic proof he's grown more mature but no less liberal with the guitars-from-everywhere attack.

The EP's digital release only, but you can cop it at eMusic, iTunes and Amazon.

If nothing else, grab "Got That Call" just for the moment where a gang of trumpets and shakers hop in the party out of nowhere.
