Remembering Lisa Blount

Lisa Blount

In his column this week, Graham Gordy movingly writes in memory of his friend Lisa Blount, who died unexpectedly last week.

Rather than fashioning tools, man's greatest calling is to be absorbed in a single moment — without before or after — and remember that we are living. It's a moment in which we cherish the world's goodness, or love its beauty, or at the very least, know its truth on its own terms. It's a spark where we grasp the order of things, however cruel, or gorgeous, or harrowing.

And today comes word that Arkansas Take Action, the West Memphis 3 advocacy group that Blount supported, will be walking in memory of her Sunday at Just Communities of Arkansas rally scheduled at the River Market Sunday at 3 p.m. Blount was to have been the ATA group's captain in the walk. Check out the full release from ATA on the jump, which includes a link where you can make a donation in her memory.

Arkansas Take Action supporters were devastated last week at the loss of a dear friend, actress/singer/producer Lisa Blount (obituary below). Lisa's career had just taken an upswing with a role in a new pilot on FX after singing at the "Voices for Justice" rally and concert in Little Rock two months ago. Lisa had just signed up to captain our ATA Free West Memphis Three team for the Just Communities of Arkansas rally and walk to take place in the LR River Market this Sunday at 3:00 p.m when she died unexpectedly. Please meet us at the kiosk between Sonny Williams' and the River Market pavilion on Sunday to walk with us. We will have WM3 T-shirts available at our cost for you to wear. Our team is ranked in the top three and has taken in over $800 in donations. If you are able to make a donation to JCA, please go to this link and be sure to list in the space provided that you are walking in memory of Lisa:
