Argenta Community Theater gets 'Small Town Murder Songs' for opening

Posted By on Tue, Feb 15, 2011 at 9:05 PM

The Argenta Community Theater, the new multi-purpose space in downtown North Little Rock, announced late today that it's secured the film "Small Town Murder Songs" to screen on Thursday night as part of its weekend-long opening festivities.

The acclaimed film, starring Peter Stormare and Martha Plimpton, comes to NLR after making big noise at last fall's Toronto International Film Fest.

Tickets to Thursday's event, which the ACT is presenting in partnership with the Little Rock Film Fest and the Oxford American, are available on a first-come-first-serve basis to those who pick up tickets at the theater from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday or Thursday. A reception begins at 6:30 p.m. Philip Martin moderates a discussion on the film afterward.

UPDATE: Following the screening, which begins at 7:30 p.m., Harry Thomason and the LRFF's Brent Renaud will be making a major announcement. To announce that Thomason's Hank Williams bio-pic will make its debut at this year's LRFF is my guess.
