Jumbo Gumbo coming April 8th

Posted By on Wed, Mar 2, 2011 at 9:08 AM

Got a good gumbo? Like competition? The Allen School is hosting yet another Jumbo Gumbo coming up Friday, April 8th at the River Market Pavilion, and they’re looking for you. Competitors will pay $75 and pony up five gallons of gumbo and rice. Attendees will pay $15 and sample all sorts of good gumbo and all the proceeds go to the school. Cool?

You may be asking yourself “okra or file gumbo?” Doesn’t matter. Any sort of meat can be used — all they ask is that you don’t use roux from a jar or powdered mix (the horror!). So get your gumbo on. More details on this website.
