Wednesday: Half-Handed Cloud, The Blue Hit, VOV

The ACAC hosts a big bill with Sufjan Stevens friend and collaborator Half-Handed Cloud, crazy local anti-pop from (clap!) Kidz Pop, Cucurbits and The Each & Everys, 9 p.m., $5.

The Valley of the Vapors festival marches on with Hot Springs singer/songwriter/activist extraordinaire Andrew Anderson delivering a multi-media lecture entitled "What is Rock and Roll?" at the Garland County Library at 4 p.m. A screening of Martin Scorsese's rock-doc masterpiece about The Band, "The Last Waltz," screens directly after at 5 p.m.

Later, at the Low Key Arts building, the VOV hosts Philadelphia's The Extraordinaires, lush folk-pop from Guitars, the madmen of Mr. Free and the Satellite Freakout and choral electro from The Binary Marketing Show, 8 p.m., $5, all ages.

Popular, heart-on-sleeve folk-pop trio The Spring Standards visit Stickyz with Texas anthem rockers Dignan, 9 p.m., $6.

White Water Tavern gets loud and rowdy with Brother Andy and His Big Damn Mouth and Brooklyn cow-punkers, Nightmare River Band, 10 p.m.

And the celebrated jazz-pop trio of The Blue Hit plays a secret, super-intimate show with the excellent, brand-new Country Mouse/City Mouse. E-mail johntarpley [at] arktimes [dot] com for details.
