Finneys Tell Me Husband
  • Finney's "Tell Me Husband"

Lawrence Finney gives his everyday people larger-than-life dimensions, emphasizing the beauty and, sometimes, poignancy, of the commonplace. His show, "Poetry: Works on Canvas and Paper" at Hearne Fine Art, 1001 Wright Ave., is a must-see 2nd Friday Art Night exhibit tonight; the event runs from 5-8 p.m. By car or trolley from the River Market district, where the Historic Arkansas Museum, the Butler Center Galleries and Christ Church are also showing some very fine work, get there.

Finney, 48, is a New York artist long represented by Hearne in Arkansas. He will talk about his work at 2 p.m. Saturday at the gallery. I'll be out of town; if anyone decides to record his presentation, I'll gladly post it here on Eye Candy.
