Reggae on the Riverfront keeps the righteous irie jams flowing at North Shore Riverwalk, starting at 2 p.m. Tickets are $20 adn are available at Abby Road on South University and Exxon on the Run on Broadway in North Little Rock.

If you'd like to spend your pre-Labor Day in a state of headbanging fury, go check out DevilDriver, Skeletonwitch and Sychosys at Revolution, 8:30, $16 adv., $20 door.

If the occasion calls for a more laid-back, less aggro vibe, The Labor Day Weekend Sunset Jazz Cruise aboard the Arkansas Queen will probably do the trick, with music from Rodney Block & The Real Music Lovers and Jonathan White, 6:30 p.m., $25-$50.

After the cruise, Ernie Biggs hosts the official after party, which includes a free Jamaican buffet with jerk chicken, curried chicken and rice and veggies. Rodney Block, Tawanna Campbell, Jeron, Dell Smith and The Crew, Chris B and the Onestone Reggae Band, J. White and Terreigh Barnett will perform, as well as DJs Deja Blu and Fatality.

You've got to figure that a band from frozen-ass Winnipeg is just gonna be way gnarlier and tougher than a band from some sun-kissed tropical clime where people wear tank tops and flip-flops year-round.
