  • There's a boat race on the Arkansas River this evening.

Well come on down to the Junction Bridge this afternoon, which will be the perfect place to watch the race, which is presented by the Grande Maumelle Sailing Club and the Arkansas Boathouse Club.

The good times get rolling at 4:30, with music from Mojo Depot. The race starts at 5:30. Bring a chair, but leave the coolers at home. You can watch the race for free, and food and beverages will be available.

I've always been leery of people who dislike animals. To my wife and me, a house without dog hair in the corners and a cat perched on the windowsill is as barren as a highway rest stop. We're down to three dogs and two cats, the smallest menagerie we've had for years.
