It is generally frowned upon to scream “Beethoven’s Niiiiiinth!!!” while at the symphony. But the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra‘s upcoming performance will featuring, essentially, requests. In a bit of direct democracy, “People’s Choice” features ASO playing works that were voted on by the audience.
There are nine categories, including Best Classical Composer, Best Classic Film Score, Best Sci/Fi Soundtrack, Best Broadway Score and Best Video Game Soundtrack, among others.
So far, it looks like the people of Arkansas dig Beethoven, “The Phantom of the Opera,” the score to “The Godfather,” the soundtrack to “Star Wars” and the music from “The Legend of Zelda.”
You can vote online here or fill out a good-old-fashioned paper ballot at the performances, March 17-18. The winners will be announced, then performed at the awards show- style extravaganza.
