Arkonnected doc on TX Gov. Richards debuts

Posted By on Tue, Jun 19, 2012 at 12:23 PM

"Ann Richards' Texas," a new documentary produced and directed by Arkansas filmmakers, will see its debut Thursday night at the American Film Institute's Silverdocs Film Festival in Silver Spring, Maryland. You can watch the trailer above.

Richards, a brash and outspoken Democrat who died in 2006, was the 45th Governor of Texas, serving from 1991 to 1995. She was defeated in her re-election bid in 1994 by George W. Bush.

The new doc — produced by Arkies Jack Lofton, Eric Wilson, Margy Merkle Niel, Susan Altrui and Jordan Cooper, with Lofton also serving as co-director with Keith Patterson — features interviews with Bill Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, Tom Brokaw and Dan Rather and others.
