John Ruskey, owner of Quapaw Canoe Co. in Clarksdale, Miss., is an artist as well as river guide. He's showing watercolors of the Mississippi and its wildlife, hand-painted maps, sculpture and hand-crafted canoes, the latter with the help of fifth and sixth graders at KIPP College Preparatory School, at the Delta Cultural Center through Aug. 25.

There will be a reception for Ruskey from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, July 14, and another recognizing the students from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 2.
