"Portraits in Gray" opens Friday at Laman

"Portraits in Gray: A Civil War Photography Exhibition," 70 images of Southern soldiers from the collection of David Wynn Vaughan of Atlanta, Ga., opens tomorrow at Laman Public Library.

The enlarged reproductions of original photographs will be accompanied by information on soldiers' visits to have their "likenesses" made, the photographer's art of the time and the importance of the photographs to the study of the Civil War era.

The exhibit, presented by the Southern Museum of Civil War and Locomotive History, Kennesaw, Ga., will run until June 15. Library hours are 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. .
