Carolyn Taylor, who opened Taylor's Contemporanea as Taylor's Gallery in 1976 in Sheridan and then moved the gallery to Hot Springs in 1990, is retiring. (If you add it up, that's 37 years in the gallery business.) To celebrate, she is hosting a champagne reception from 1-5 p.m. Sunday, June 2, at the gallery, 204 Exchange St.

Taylor said in a note that she plans to open a new business at the Exchange Street address. Her daughter, Terri Taylor, will take over the gallery, which will move to the space formerly occupied by Artchurch, at 301 Whittington. (Artchurch has moved down Whittington to the Dryden Pottery building.) Taylor's will still represent Warren Criswell and Darrell Loy Scott and most of the others in its stable.

For the time being, Taylor's is offering a 25 percent discount on all items.
