In conjunction with the “Face to Face: Artists’ Self-Portraits from the Collection of Jackye and Curtis Finch Jr.” and “Portraiture Now: Drawing on the Edge,” Jeannette Rockefeller Gallery, through Feb. 9; the Arkansas Arts Center is hosting a portraiture contest for artists between 2 and 5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11. All are welcome to enter; to sign up, email Louise Palermo at lpalermo@arkansasartscenter.org.

Here's how it works: Artists will be paired up randomly to draw one another. The winner of each pair, to be chosen by Arts Center curator Ann Prentiss Wagner, will progress to the next bracket. The final two winning portraits will be exhibited at the Arts Center.

Brackets make me think of basketball playoffs and that makes me think — what about a portraits pool? Maybe we can get Palermo to create one.
