Arkansas artists abroad: Jon Shannon Rogers

Little Rock artist Jon Shannon Rogers will spend September in Glasgow as the Prince's Drawing School's Artist in Residence at the Dumfries House. Eat your heart out: The residency includes a private studio on the 2,000 acre royal estate in East Ayrshire, Scotland, as well as accommodations and a stipend.

The residency is open to emerging and established American and British artists, three from the U.K. and one from the U.S.  the Art Students League of New York, the New York Academy, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, the Yale University School of Art and the New York Studio School all made nominations. Rogers was nominated by the New York Studio School.

Upon completion of the residency one of Rogers' works will enter the collection of Dumfries House, built between 1754 and 1759 for the 5th Earl of Dumfries and owned by the Prince of Wales, aka Prince Charles. 

Rogers, who has taught as an adjunct at Henderson State University and Hendrix College, received a bachelorʼs in fine arts degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2008 and a masterʼs in fine arts degree from the New York Studio School in 2011.
