2nd Friday Art Night: Jansen, Sell, Gore, Wittenberg, Freeman ...

Arkansas Capital Corp
. at 200 River Market Ave., the Historic Arkansas Museum, Gallery 221, the Old State House Museum, the Butler Center Galleries, Marriott Courtyard and the Thousand Words Gallery will be open 5-8 p.m. tonight for 2nd Friday Art Night, the downtown trolley-travel art event. 

Sculptor Sandra Sell and painters Spencer Jansen and Matthew Gore have work at Arkansas Capital Corp.; they're calling the exhibition, curated by Robert Bean, "Texture, Color and Shape.” Read more here

Ray Wittenberg is showing his ribbon-like abstractions (“So What! It’s the Least I Can Do …") at HAM, where Heather Smith will provide live music. At Gallery 221 (and Studios 221), Jennifer "Emile" Freeman is the featured artist, and at the Marriott Courtyard, Holly Tilly and other members of the Art Group are exhibiting work. 

The “State Youth Art Show 2014: An Exhibition by the Arkansas Art Educators” is at the Arkansas Studies Institute's Butler Center, and work by John Kushmaul will be featured in the retail gallery. Thousand Words Gallery includes work by employees of the Central Arkansas Library System. 

The Old State House kicks off two days of celebrating the state's 178th birthday with music by the Mockingbirds at its "Party Like It's 1836" event tonight. The museum and the Historic Arkansas Museum will keep up the ruckus Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
