If you are looking for a place to enjoy a beer, a veggie burger and a football game, then one of Little Rock's recently opened restaurants may just be the place for you. Earlier this year, the space that previously housed The Villa off Bowman in West Little Rock was transformed into a pub called Another Round. I went at lunch time to check it out without any real expectations that I would find a great variety of things on the menu, but found a pleasant new restaurant with tasty food and a relaxed atmosphere.

When walking into Another Round, the first thing you notice is how open it is compared to the layout of the Villa. There has been major remodel work done, and the space is inviting and comfortable. A large bar runs along the back of the restaurant, and there are TVs mounted all around to give ample views of what's playing. The menu is fairly large, with a variety of different bar foods like onion rings, flat breads, salads and burgers. It seems to fill the gap that was left when Buffalo Grill moved out of the area last year.

Although the menu is fairly meat heavy, there were things I found and enjoyed. We ordered the Salsa and Chips ($3.95) as a starter. The chips were thin, crispy and deliciously salty, while the salsa was made fresh and spicy. I ordered the vegetable burger ($7.79), without cheese or mayo, and a side of onion rings. At the bottom of the menu, you can add extras for about a dollar, so I chose guacamole and jalapenos to top my burger. When my plate arrived, I was pleasantly surprised to see that the burger patty was not a frozen meat substitute, as so often happens when you order the veggie burger. It had good flavor and texture, and it was piled high with lettuce, tomato, pickles, onion, guacamole and jalapenos.

The onion rings, however, were a disappointment. I often order them on menus, hoping that they're fried fresh and come out crispy, but these were the typical rings you would buy frozen. The batter was thick and chewy, and they ultimately tasted more like fried dough than onions. Next time, I'll try the fries.

Another Round seems like a good place to meet up with friends to enjoy some fairly inexpensive food in hearty portions and cheer on your favorite team. They have a Facebook page where you can see their game and live music schedules, and information about the menu, happy hour and lunch specials are all available online.
