Artist John Salvest in the spotlight at CBM

John Salvest, a conceptual artist from Jonesboro known for installations that provide commentary on politics and society, will give the "Spotlight Lecture" tonight, Nov. 7, at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, where Salvest's work is on display in the "State of the Art: Discovering American Art Now" exhibition. Salvest's work has gotten lots of attention from reviewers of the exhibition. 

Salvest's work in the SOTA is "Forever," constructed with romance novels. His talk starts at 6:30 p.m. in the Great Hall. 

James Lavadour, an Oregon artist also exhibiting in "State of the Art," will give a talk in the contemporary art gallery at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8. Lavadour is a self-taught artist who works on as many as 100 paintings at a time in his exploration of the properties of paint and landscape.
