Help Hot Springs get a (solar-powered) community radio station

Posted By on Fri, Dec 5, 2014 at 12:02 PM

Hot Springs wants a new radio station, and they're asking for our help in raising their very specific goal of $9,790 to get started.  KUHS 97.9 will be a community station and, incidentally, will be the only solar-powered radio station in the state. Station manager Zach Smith presents a familiar argument against corporate radio in the video above, complaining that the FCC helped turn music into "goo." In contrast, KUHS will be "off the grid" and "running off the sun" and will presumably play good music too, in addition to being a public forum ("the voice of Hot Springs") and an outlet for the local culture scene. Their Kickstarter has 11 days to go.
