Everyone knows I love my barbecue (and of course a big juicy steak), but no matter how much of a carnivore I am in general, there are times that the urge for a decadent dessert takes precedence over else. There are many restaurants that serve a great meal ending dessert, and then there are places that specialize in delicious treats such as cakes, pies, cupcakes and doughnuts, covered with all kinds of glazes and sprinkles. One such place is 3rd & Main Street Sweets in Malvern.

I first came across 3rd & Main Street Sweets while browsing local restaurants on Facebook. After weeks of looking at the pictures and literally salivating over all the sweet creations, I made the short drive from Hot Springs to Malvern. When I got there, I found not only desserts, but lunch specials that include a selection of soups and sandwiches. Orders can be called in to be picked up, and they even make party trays. But I made this journey for the sweets! So after looking over all the goodies, my eyes fell upon a red velvet cake. Now at 3rd & Main, you can buy whole cakes and pies, but if you only want a slice, they are more than happy to accommodate you. I thought one slice would be enough, but after tasting the silky smooth buttercream frosting and the moist cake that melted as it touched my tongue, I knew another slice would be in order. I know myself and my lack of will power when it comes to sweets, so I knew the next slice would be eaten in my truck on the way home — and it was, along with two chocolate cupcakes with chocolate frosting and a half dozen chocolate chunk cookies. My only problem was having to leave without trying everything in the place.

I have to say that many more trips to 3rd & Main Street Sweets are in my future. The selection savory lunches, sandwiches and soups along with moist, delicious (and chocolate-covered) treats, one could find themselves in there for the better part of a day.

So do you love your sweets? Has that urge to satisfy your sweet tooth been calling? If so, head on over to Malvern to the corner of 3rd and Main street, you will not regret it. Maybe I will see you there.
