As every foodie knows, some of the best meals and delicious bites come from food trucks and food trailers. Food trucks thrive in major cities and larger towns. In Hot Springs, food trucks haven’t caught on, but there is a group of folks who are trying to change that. The people of the Historic Downtown Farmers Market have started Food Truck Fridays.

Food Truck Fridays takes place the last Friday of the month, at the Historic Downtown Farmers Market, and goes from 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Having started June 26, it will end October 30. The first event was a great success, and judging by the long lines at each of the trucks and trailers, I think Spa City residents will be ready for more. From funnel cakes and sno cones, to crepes, tacos and everything in between, there was something for everyone. There was also a catch. Each vendor highlighted a fresh product from a local farmer. This makes for some great creativity and amazing flavors. One farmer provided fresh peaches for sno cones! There is also musical entertainment all day.

Like any organized event, there is room to grow, and to learn from mistakes. There is also room for more trucks and trailers, lots more room. Hopefully this can evolve into one of the state’s most anticipated events. So if you love food trucks, or own and operate a truck/trailer, come join the folks in Hot Springs for some food and fun.

The entire event is organized with the help of volunteers, and more help is always welcomed. Anyone wanting to volunteer, or anyone interested in being a vendor, contact Elaine at 501-860-3925, or contact the Hot Springs Farmers & Artisans Market at hsfarmersmarket@gmail.com.
