Every August, the Arkansas Times and the Little Rock Convention & Visitors Bureau team up for Restaurant Month, and all month long, you can participate in Savor the City activities to get great deals at places all across the city. It's too hot to do much else, so why not enjoy some great food with all the air conditioning you can stand?

All this week, I'll be highlighting some of my personal favorite picks for Savor the City deals, separated by neighborhood. These are just the tip of the foodie iceberg, though, so be sure to grab a copy of the Times to see everything available.

Today, I'm talking downtown.

*4 Square Cafe & Gifts: Mention "Savor the City" to the folks at 4 Square and you'll get a free cookie with every sandwich purchase. This is a place I wind up at a lot for lunch, because their vegan and vegetarian options are a great change of pace from the typical burger-and/or-taco lunches I'm prone to gravitate toward.

*Damgoode Pies: Thinking about grabbing a brew at the Damgoode Brew Pub here in the River Market? Go for a sandwich to soak it up and receive $2 off every whole sammie you order. This deal is also good at the other Damgoode locations around town.

*Copper Grill: One of the best deals downtown comes from Copper Grill. The restaurant is offering a $15 prix fixe 2-course lunch from their special Restaurant Month menu or a $30 prix fixe dinner

*Bookends Cafe: If you've never eaten at the Library's Bookends Cafe, this is the perfect time to do so. Stop in and say the magic words ("Savor the City") and receive a Southwest chicken wrap, chips and a canned soda for only $7.75—a pretty remarkable deal for lunch.

*Iriana's Pizza: Given our office's location just a floor above Iriana's, it's no surprise that I eat there a lot, and with a Restaurant Month deal like 15% any whole pizza, there's no reason why you shouldn't eat there just as much.

Any of you been keeping up with Savor the City? Got a deal you think we should take advantage of? Let us know down there in the comments. Tomorrow, I'll be talking about my favorite deals in the Heights and Hillcrest.
