In October, the weather gets cooler, the leaves begin to change and every foodie in Arkansas begins thinking of just one thing: Chili. Rich, delicious, with or without beans, made with beef, venison or random varmints—it's all good to me. And there are some delicious upcoming chili events where everyone can either join in the festivities as a cook or just show up and start stuffing the good stuff right into the mouth part of the face.

Here's the breakdown of upcoming chili events:

October 3: The Point 94.1 and Russell Honda/Chevrolet are teaming up for a Fall Chili Brawl. You see, last year's Chili With a Kick event was canceled because of some nasty weather, so the good folks at Youth Home missed out on the money normally raised during that event. Thus, the Chili Brawl. You'll be able to eat your fill of the good stuff, play baggo and it's all for a good cause. The organizers are still looking for teams, so click on over here for more information.

October 17: Head on over to the Heights for Chili Fights in the Heights, the annual cook-off held to benefit the Arkansas Foodbank. There will be beer and wine, and local music madman Kevin Kerby will be performing.

October 31: It's become quite a Halloween tradition in these parts for folks to dress up in their favorite costumes and head down to the Clear Channel Metroplex for the 100.3 The Edge's Guns and Hoses Chili Cook-off. Hosted by Corey Deitz and Patrick Beam, hosts of The Edge's popular morning show. One year at this thing, I ate chili made with Red Hots cinnamon candies while a guy in a grim reaper outfit chatted it up next to me with a girl dressed like Sailor Moon. It's that kind of party. All proceeds go to benefit the September Fund, a scholarship program for the children of firefighters and police officers.

Know of an upcoming chili event you'd like to tell us about? Let us know down in the comments, and leave some Rolaids on the night stand before you go.
