The Pantry Crest celebrates first anniversary

When it comes to fine dining in Hillcrest, there are plenty of great options—and last year, Tomas Bohm of West Little Rock's The Pantry restaurant gave us another one with The Pantry Crest. Bohm's menu of Czech and German food is a delight, and the way his team has given new life to their space on Palm Street is nothing short of miraculous. It's hard to believe that the Pantry Crest has been with us for a year, but Bohm and team are ready to celebrate.

I spoke recently with Joe Holland, the general manager of The Pantry Crest, and he was excited to fill us all in on the details of the celebration. Here's a rundown of what you all can expect:

The Pantry Crest will be open from noon-midnight during Hillcrest HarvestFest, serving a full menu all day both inside and on the patio. In addition to the extended hours, Pantry cooks will rope off the restaurant's small parking lot to set up a grilling station, serving up Street Fair Sausages (think bratwurst, Hungarian sausage and knackwurst) on Arkansas Fresh bread to all hungry passers-by. A full condiment bar will also be available so everyone can dress their street meat up just like they like it.

For dinner, things get even better: The cooks are going to switch from sausages to suckling pig, serving portions of delicious pork right there on the street (and inside, too). And because it's Oktoberfest season, the restaurant will also have Lost 40 Oktoberfest on draft plus beers straight from Germany.

Finally, from 10 p.m.-midnight will be Late Night Happy Hour, and there will be food and drink specials. And as an added bonus, Pantry employees will be roaming HarvestFest all day handing out tickets for free Street Fair Sausages—so keep an eye out for a chance to score free eats.

Hillcrest HarvestFest runs all day October 17, and there's always so much to do. The Pantry Crest has added their own European flavor to the festivities, and I personally can't wait to listen to the live music while munching on some roast pig.
