Artist Matt McLeod, the creator of the huge koi mural covering the side of a building at Sixth and Main, art that emphasizes Main Street's Creative Corridor identity, will celebrate the opening of his new gallery, Matt McLeod Fine Art, at 108 W. Sixth St., tonight from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The gallery faces the mural, so this stretch of Sixth has become McLeod Street.

On the walls: Paintings by Taimur Cleary, the erstwhile visiting arts professor at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock who has moved north; Henderson State University art department chair Kathy Strause, the chronicler of mid-20th century life; Ozarks painter Alice Andrews; glass artist James Hayes; kinetic art sculptor Harry Loucks; Angela Davis Johnson, whose series on lynching was featured earlier this year at Argenta Gallery and whose mural at Fourth and Poplar in North Little Rock is getting much well-deserved praise, and abstract artist Max Gore.

McLeod uses not just his gallery but the hallways in the Main Street Lofts building, formerly the Arkansas building, renovated by Scott Reed. The lofts are in limbo, but Cranford & Co. and The Arkansas Repertory Theater have moved and Arkansas Ballet is preparing to move into the the building.
