Oscar-nominated actress Kathleen Turner will serve as the Honorary Chair of the 2017 Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival, the HSDFF announced today, and will present the festival's opening night film, "LADDIE: The Man Behind the Movies," on October 6.

The HSDFF runs Oct. 6-15 at the Arlington Resort Hotel and Spa. Passes and tickets are available at hsdfi.org

Turner won two Golden Globes for "Romancing the Stone" and "Prizzi's Honor," and was nominated for an Academy Award for her time-traveling turn in the film "Peggy Sue Got Married." Turner also voiced the iconic character Jessica Rabbit in "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?"

"LADDIE: The Man Behind the Movies," tells the story of Alan Ladd, Jr., a Hollywood studio head who produced "Star Wars," "Alien," "Blade Runner," "Braveheart," "Chariots of Fire," "Young Frankenstein," "Gone Baby Gone," and other films. Turner got her big break in the neo-noir film "Body Heat," which Ladd also produced. Ladd's daughter, Amanda Ladd-Jones, directed the doc and will premiere it at the HSDFF.  The film features interviews with George Lucas, Morgan Freeman, Ridley Scott, Mel Brooks, and others.
