A screening of "Maya Angelou: And Still I Rise" at 6 p.m. tonight kicks off the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center's "Women Without Words" exhibition. The exhibition "explores the way in which African-American women have been publicly presented in various mediums," the MTCC says.

More from the release:

How do interpretive panels and labels impact the way we interact with art? What assumptions do we make about African American women – and the artists who portray them – as they are depicted in various media?

Each artifact in “Women Without Words” is exhibited without context. No labels. No panels. No interpretation. Instead, patrons are invited to examine each piece and provide their own interpretation in this interactive exhibit.
The show runs through May 4.
