Congressman Steve Womack: time to “Lead From the Front” and stand up for those with Pancreatic Cancer

Posted By on Sun, Dec 18, 2011 at 11:21 AM

Some time back I wrote of a very important person in my life who was taken by Pancreatic Cancer, a disease which has the lowest survival rate of all cancers, according to the American Cancer Society and the National Cancer Institute. Pancreatic cancer is so very difficult to diagnose, and has very few treatment options

Your chances of surviving five years is a paltry six percent.

Six percent. By some estimates, the number of cases of pancreatic cancer may well increase by as much as 55 percent in the next two decades

If someone we know is diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, we tell them we love them (as often as possible) and be as supportive as we can. There is a website for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network at:

Currently, there is a bill before Congress - The Pancreatic Cancer Research and Education Act (S363/HR733). This would provide some much needed funding that is desperately needed to fight this horrific killer of so many of our fellow Americans.

Of the Arkansas delegation, Senator Boozman and Representatives Griffin and Ross are on board as sponsors.

Missing In Action are Senator Pryor and Representatives Crawford and Womack.

Congress hasn’t gone home yet. You can go to the website above and send a message to the congressman of your choice and urge him to support this measure - to do the right thing.

Or get in touch with them any way you like, but please, get in touch with them and ask them to do one right thing (besides extend the payroll Tax) before 2012.

No posturing, just do the right thing.

Look, the Great Campus Rape Crisis was mainly hype all along. What Vice President Joe Biden described as an epidemic of sexual violence sweeping American college campuses in 2011 was vastly overstated.
