If you are gonna fly the American flag outside your business, then maybe you should learn the rules

To be fair, maybe some folks simply lack the technical skill required to lower a flag to half-mast. Then again, since it is a skill mastered not only by those in the military, but also Boy Scouts and high school students, it really isn’t rocket science.

I have long held a dim view of those who hoist a flag - and keep it up day and night - in order to bring more attention to their business. But when they are too damn lazy to lower the flag to half-mast in times of national tragedy or when a public figure dies and the president orders the flags to be lowered, well, maybe they should learn the rules.

I was never a big Scalia fan, but he was a Supreme Court Justice, and when the President of the United states says lower the flag, baby, well, you should know what to do.

If you don’t, maybe you shouldn’t be putting a flag outside your business in the first place . . .

It might not add up to a fortune, but I’m sure it may well aggravate those who feel that tuition is high enough as it is without the UA essentially offering a bribe of a dollar to all the folks willing to fill out a survey.

  • The dangers of wanting a president “who talks like us”

Personally, I think things started going to Hell when folks were seriously asked, “Which candidate would you rather have a beer with?” Because, to be honest, there just aren’t all that many of my former drinking codkpaniopns I’d like to see in any positions of authority.
