Fayetteville Public Television spreads its wings, and welcomes folks from all over Washington and Benton Counties

Public access television in Fayetteville has always been a place of welcome and a showcase of the diversity in our area, so it was disheartening when someone unwisely convinced the city a few years ago to restrict its services to Fayetteville residents. Now, though, its doors have opened wide yet again, and folks from not just Washington County, but Benton County as well as able to use the facility which has helped so many since 1980.

Kudos to the Fayetteville City Council for amending a long-time wrong.

Welcome, Elkins! Welcome, West Fork, Farmington, Greenland and a whole host of other communities in Washington County.

And for you, Benton County, welcome back, as well.

You can come down and be part of the Short Takes program, which gives each and every citizen a chance to come to the studio and express an opinion, tell a joke, sing a song, or just to tell a story.  You can come to a special orientation which will tell you everything you need to know about what is, literally, at your fingertips.

You can check out the equipment and use the studio, and learn skills which can, if you wish, help you in the workplace.

Public access television  - no matter what name it has gone by - has long been the quilt of community diversity, giving us all a chance to share our stories. Welcoming more into the fold only strengthens the bond between us all.

Great day in the morning!
