Legal Wackiness Abounds

A man is facing foreclosure of his house because he refused to pay a $50.00 parking ticket.

Mary-Kate Olsen won't talk to prosecutors investigating Heath Ledger's suicide ( he played the Joker in this year's Batman movie) unless she is given immunity from prosecution.  Now why would she need immunity ?

Ever ask for a Coke at a restaurant and, without telling you they don't have Coke, they bring you a Pepsi ?  Or worse, you ask for Dr. Pepper - they give you that evil doppleganger - Mr. Pibb.  I find that annoying -- but hardly something to sue over.    Apparently Red Bull doens't find it a minor matter.  They sued a nightclub for doing just that thing - and won $679,000.

  • Publishing to Perish ?

In an interesting twist, the Arkansas Supreme Court today amended Ark. Sup. Ct. Rule 5-2 and will now allow all cases to be cited, doing away with the distinction between published and unpublished opinions.

  • Bad health care bill, again

Wait! Postpone tax reform and everything else for a while longer because the Senate is going to try to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act one more time before September ends and while it can do it with the votes of only 50 senators.
  • Sex on campus

Look, the Great Campus Rape Crisis was mainly hype all along. What Vice President Joe Biden described as an epidemic of sexual violence sweeping American college campuses in 2011 was vastly overstated.
