Yet another mega-lawyer pleads guilty

Posted By on Mon, Aug 4, 2008 at 9:37 AM

This seems to be the year for some of the biggest lawyers in the country to be facing jail time. As reported by the New York Times, now it is Dickie Scruggs - who has won cases worth billions in damages. He plead guilty to attempting to bribe a judge for $50,000 to get a favorable ruling and received a 5 year sentence. He also happens to be Trent Lott's brother-in-law. Scrugg's son also plead guilty and it looks like he will be serving his time in an Arkansas federal prison.

In the movie, "Better Off Dead," with John Cusack, there is this sub-plot of the local newspaper delivery boy stalking Cusack to get his $2.  Some people will go to great lengths to get their $2 in real life as well.
