Philip and Karen Martin weigh in from Toronto

Posted By on Fri, Sep 15, 2006 at 8:17 AM

Arkansas Democrat Gazette film critics Philip and Karen Martin have two interesting columns in today's paper.  Both in Toronto, Philip liked Babel and Volver as well as Catch a Fire and The Last King of Scotland.  Martin says All the King's Men isn't all that bad (although he too admits Jude Law's southern accent is awful) and For Your Consideration and Little Children are "just all right."  He doesn't much like A Good Year, which he calls "a predictable, sunny mess."

Karen Martin highlights some lesser known films.

Thanks to Philip Martin for a shout-out in his Friday MovieStyle column.  I haven't posted my Netflix queue in a while, so here it is.Frozen River; Miracle at St. Anna; Hellboy II: The Golden Army; Happy-Go-Lucky; and Cadillac Records - - all 2008 releases that I missed.

It's the slowest for movies. "Watchmen," the much anticipated film adapted from, arguably, the greatest graphic novel of all time, has stirred the emotions of critics.
